The term 'springs' is an expression used in areas throughout Shetland, but especially in Whalsay, as a description for tunes, mainly reels, played in the old traditional style. On this album Gibbie Hutchison plays the fiddle in this style.

Supreme talents of classical Scotticism have created this album of harp, clarsach and voice. Dr Anne Lorne Gillies, Mod Gold Medallist and internationally acclaimed singer, combines her singing and arranging skills with the playing of the renowned harpist Rhona Mackay. The lyrics are those of ‘The Lady Of The Lake’ by Sir Walter Scott. An album of great clarity and artistry.
